I love Christmas in California. I love the fake snow, the eggnog, the music, but I especially love the lights. The more the merrier being my mantra with illuminations. This year I might have gone a teensy bit overboard. I think it was life-sized reindeer that pushed me over the edge.

Lucian Davis sure as heck isn't happy about my design choice, mind you, he's never happy. Nope, he's grumpy with a capital G. It's a good thing he's also G for gorgeous. However, on stepping in to help me with my reindeer issue, he's way beyond grumpy, he's furious.

LUCIAN

I don't get the appeal. To me, Christmas is just another day, one where I'll get more call-outs than usual. What is it about folks overloading their electrical panels at this time of year? One house last year had enough lights that it would have been visible from space, if not for them blowing all the fuses.

On seeing Natasha Frank skating around on the roof of the Coogan's Break Welcome Center, I come close to blowing a fuse of my own. This is thanks to her elf costume highlighting all her good bits—and trust me, I'd know—and her about to hurt herself if I don't step in.

When asked to house-sit by a fellow lawyer, I don’t give it a second’s thought. So what if I don’t have a clue where Coogan’s Break is? Anything is better than staring at the walls of my apartment.

On my second visit to Dynamic Five Dance, any thoughts of my job back in the city flee. The last time I saw Drew Morton-Huxley was at his final performance with Manhattan Modern Dance. His dancing was the hottest thing I’d ever seen, leaving me squirming in my seat. The way he’s looking at me now and I wonder if I’m about to discover if he’s as good in the flesh as he had been on stage.

It has taken years, but I’ve finally accepted my life as a dancer is over. If I was a racehorse, they would have shot me that night. I haven’t left that world behind completely, deciding that if I can no longer dance, I should pay my dues by helping those who still can, or at least want to.

Je suis une dévoreuse de livres, ce qui m'a amenée à travailler à la bibliothèque locale pour assouvir mon addiction. Je ne savais pas que ma vie de bibliothécaire allait être bouleversée par quelque chose de plus brûlant que n'importe lequel des romans torrides à portée de main.

Mais c'est vrai. Blake Mitchell, l'homme de mes rêves, est de retour en ville et apparemment déterminé à m'offrir mon propre chapitre mouillé et sauvage.

BLAKE

J'ai toujours adoré ma vie sur la route, à courir après les vagues et à être libre. Dernièrement, cependant, j'ai aspiré à quelque chose de plus permanent, un foyer bien à moi. Mais on dit que le foyer est là où se trouve le cœur, et il n'y a qu'un seul cœur qui m'intéresse.

Hélas, à cause de ma réputation d'être « là aujourd'hui, parti demain », mes chances d'attirer l'affection de Chloé Henderson sont nulles. Et puis elle me montre à quel point je me trompe, avec ses belles courbes, et tout dans mon monde est parfait.

AVERTISSEMENT : Dans Surf Break, Chloé est victime de harcèlement. Cependant, grâce à l'amour de Blake, elle surmonte cette épreuve, en sortant victorieuse à plus d'un titre. Il y a définitivement une fin heureuse à ce sujet, car personne ne devrait jamais être harcelé.
