VHU is the latest experimental pop project from Ana Barajas, an artist whose work seamlessly blends electronic textures, pop songcraft, and ancestral South American sounds into ethereal, haunting, and evocative performances. Drawing from her classical training, deep Colombian roots, and years of experience across Latin folk, pop, jazz, tango, experimental electronics, and metal, Barajas brings a fearless, boundary-breaking approach to genre.

Her previous solo releases—including La Botánica de los Sueños (2018) and Mango Motel (2025)—have established her as an artist unafraid of sonic exploration. With VHU, Barajas expands this vision even further, crafting immersive, cinematic soundscapes that feel both ancient and futuristic.

VHU unveils “Estrella de la Mañana” (Morning Star), the debut single from the self-titled album and new project by Colombian-born, Austin-based artist and producer Ana Barajas. Produced by Barajas alongside Justin Bernard Williams, the track marks the beginning of a bold sonic journey that bridges ancestral memory with futuristic electronic soundscapes.

“The Morning Star, the last star to light up the sky just before dawn, which for many ancestral cultures symbolizes the transition from darkness to light, is for me a symbol of transformation and a yearning to find and maintain clarity and balance, both within and in the world around us. As I say in the song, ‘Ser luz en la oscuridad’ (to be light in the darkness), this is, for me, the role of art, especially in these turbulent times we are living in today.”
